Allergies and yeast can be incredibly itchy, leaving your poor cat with an itch that she simply cannot find relief from.
If you notice your cat is constantly rubbing her body or face, scratching incessantly or chewing fur, she may be suffering from a yeast infection. Maybe your cat is losing her hair? Red paws? Hot spots? These are all signs of a yeast infection that often stem from an allergy.
Yeast infections occur in cats for a number of different reasons, but the most common cause is your cat’s immune system being out of balance.
- Is your cat eating a kibble with lots of carbohydrates? (This includes things like sweet potatoes, peas, rice etc..)
- Has your cat taken antibiotics for something just recently or long-term?
- Does your cat suffer from leaky-gut syndrome (pathogens seeping through intestinal walls causing yeast blooms)?
