Ground Wild BC Salmon is an excellent source of Omega-3’s and Vitamin D, and a great way to add variety to your pet’s diet. Ground with the skin-on for additional calcium, collagen, and Vitamin E.
- Omega-3 fats are an essential part of your pet’s diet, and most diets are deficient in Omega-3’s as they are only found in high concentrations in pasture-raised red meats and marine fish. You can supplement your pet’s diet by feeding them an Omega-3 oil such as salmon, hemp, or flax, but our favourite way is by adding fish to their diet! Feeding whole foods rather than supplements allow your pet to receive many other health benefits from its food source such as vitamins, minerals, and protein.
- Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that helps dogs regulate the balance and retention of calcium and phosphorus for bone and joint health.
It is recommended to feed about 1-1.5oz of fish per 10lbs of body weight daily (about half that for cats), or you can combine that into one or two big fish meals per week! Adjust to suit your pet’s needs. Pets who eat mostly white meats will have a higher Omega-3 requirement than pets who eat mostly red meats.
