Single-Protein Muscle Meat for Dogs & Cats
Back 2 Basics Bison features single-animal bison muscle meat in convenient 1 lb portions, making it easy to build and portion a balanced DIY raw diet for dogs and cats. Lean, nutrient-dense, and rich in flavor, bison is an excellent red meat option for rotational feeding.
Our bison is responsibly sourced from Alberta and minimally processed to maintain its natural integrity — simply thaw and serve.
Why Feed Bison?
Bison is a lean red meat that provides:
-
High-quality, bioavailable protein
-
Naturally occurring iron and zinc
-
Rich flavor for enhanced palatability
-
Novel protein variety for rotation
As a muscle meat component, bison forms the foundation of a raw feeding plan but must be paired with additional elements for nutritional balance.
How to Use
In a balanced DIY raw diet, muscle meat typically makes up approximately 80% of the total meal, alongside:
-
10% edible bone or a calcium source
-
5% liver
-
5% other secreting organ
Bison can replace other muscle meats within this ratio as part of regular protein rotation.
It may also be added in smaller amounts as a protein boost to pre-made raw, kibble, or cooked diets — adjust other components as needed to maintain balance.
This product contains muscle meat only and is not a complete meal on its own.
