Our Story
Feeding our pets like we give a damn since 1996
True Carnivores began as many good things do: With love, necessity—and my fair share of frustration. My German Shepherd was sick, and the usual fixes weren’t working. No one had real answers, so I went back to what I’ve always believed in: Real food. That belief came from my mom.
No matter what we had—or didn’t—food was sacred. Weekends weren’t about shopping, they were about gathering: We’d go to farms to dig through crates of produce before “farmers markets” were a thing, or to the waterfront to buy fish straight off the boat. We ate locally, in season, and with purpose.
That reverence for food is what True Carnivores was built on.

Since 1996, we’ve been proud to be BC’s original real-food grocer for pets.
And for nearly 30 years, we’ve stood by one simple truth: Pets deserve real food. No shortcuts. No over-processing. No fillers. Just real food that gets real results—because it feeds them as nature intended.
A lot has changed since we first opened our doors in 1996. Back then, fresh feeding was new—intimidating, confusing, and full of guesswork. But today, we’ve done the heavy lifting so you don’t have to. We’ve made fresh feeding simple, approachable, and accessible for all pet parents.
We’re backed by a small but mighty team who lives this mission every day: Pet parents and fresh feeders, here to help pets thrive through nutrition. Whether you're just starting out or you've been fresh feeding for years, we’ll answer your questions and help you feed like you give a damn—because we really do.
One bowl at a time.

Our Standards
We don’t sell anything we wouldn’t want to eat
Want to eat kibble? We didn’t think so. But local B.C. blueberries, wild salmon, or grass-fed beef? Yes, please. We source only human-grade meats and natural ingredients, the majority of which are from HACCP-certified facilities—the same as human food. Because pet food should be real food.
