Product Description

Secreting Organ for Dogs & Cats | Essential Raw Diet Component

Back 2 Basics Bison Liver Cubes are single-ingredient, raw bison liver cut into convenient bite-sized pieces for easy portioning. As one of the most nutrient-dense components in raw feeding, liver plays a critical role in building a properly balanced DIY raw diet for dogs and cats.

Rich in flavor and biologically appropriate, liver delivers essential vitamins that muscle meat alone cannot provide.

Why Feed Bison Liver?

Liver is classified as a secreting organ and should make up a specific portion of a balanced raw diet.

It naturally provides:

  • Vitamin A for vision and immune support

  • B vitamins for energy metabolism

  • Iron and copper for healthy blood function

  • Highly bioavailable, whole-food micronutrients

Because liver is extremely nutrient-dense, proper portioning is important.

How to Use

In a balanced DIY raw diet, secreting organs typically make up 10% of the total diet, divided as:

  • 5% liver

  • 5% another secreting organ (such as kidney or spleen)

Bison liver fulfills the essential 5% liver portion.

Introduce gradually and monitor stool consistency, as liver is rich and can loosen stools if fed in excess.

Liver cubes may also be used in very small amounts as a high-value training reward or meal topper.

Bison liver is not a complete meal. A balanced raw diet must also include muscle meat, edible bone or a calcium source, and an additional secreting organ to maintain proper nutrient ratios.

Serving Tips

Liver is very rich, and feeding too much can cause loose stool or very dark poo. We recommend starting slow with small amounts, and gradually feeding as much as 5% of your pet’s diet.

Since bison liver is very high in vitamin A, it is also recommended not to feed over 5% liver in the diet. The 5% liver ratio provides more than recommended allowance for vitamin A. Increasing the amount of liver beyond 5% can provide too much vitamin A in the diet.

We have high standards

There’s only one thing we’re serious about, and that’s high-quality food for pets. We source only human-grade meats and natural ingredients, the majority of which are from HACCP-certified facilities—the same as human food. Because pet food should be real food.

    Liver

Liver delivers a concentrated source of vitamin A, iron, and B vitamins to support vision, red blood cell production, and metabolic function. It also provides essential minerals that promote immune health and overall organ function.
