How to Feed

Mix ¼–½ tsp per 10 lbs of body weight with cold water to form a paste. Let thicken for 5–10 minutes, then mix into food or feed directly. Use once or twice daily as needed. Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture.

Slippery Elm can be given in its powder form as long as it is mixed with something high in moisture, such as raw or canned food, goat milk, bone broth etc.

You can also create a soothing gel with slippery elm. Stir the powder dose (above) into some warm water and let it sit to thicken. You can give this to your pet as-is. If they don't want to eat it, you can syringe it directly into the mouth. Slippery elm has a sweet smell and is typically quite palatable to most pets.

  • Slippery Elm can be given with or without food; however, if stomach upset occurs after dosing on an empty stomach, give future doses with food.
  • Slippery Elm should not be given within 2 hours of any other medications as it may affect the absorption of those medications.
