Back 2 Basics Bison Tongue comes from free-range, non-medicated Alberta Bison. These strips can be fed as a treat or a food topper for an extra boost of nutrients.
Bison tongue is high in taurine, making it a great choice for cats. Taurine is essential for cardiovascular function, the development and function of skeletal muscles, and the central nervous system. It is also necessary for bile production, which aids in food digestion. While most raw and commercial diets provide an adequate amount of taurine, it is recommended that any cooked foods or diets low in red meat should supplement with additional sources of taurine.
Tongue is also high in fat (approximately 1:1 ratio of protein to fat) which is excellent for keto diets, growing puppies, or highly active pets. For less active pups, we recommend feeding these in moderation. This is also a great low-allergen fat source for pets on low-fat novel proteins due to food allergies.
