Carino Pets Omega 3 Harp Seal Oil

Seal Oil is a great source of Omega-3’s, including DPA which is only found in fish oils in trace amounts. Harvested from Canadian waters and processed in Newfoundland.

Available in a 250mL or 500mL bottle

Carino Pets Omega 3 Harp Seal Oil is the perfect supplement because it contains not only DHA and EPA, but also DPA – a third powerful omega 3 fatty acid that enhances the amount of the other omega 3s in the body. And because seal oil comes from another mammal, it’s molecular structure is more easily absorbed and utilized than plant or fish-based oils.

What’s the difference in Omega 3 Supplements?

  • Fish oil Omega 3 supplements contain only DHA and EPA.
  • Plant based Omega 3 supplements contain ALA, which the body converts into DHA and EPA.
  • Seal oil contains a unique, third omega called DPA. DPA is naturally found all throughout the body! DPA boosts all Omega 3 levels and can be converted in the body to both EPA and DHA, allowing the body to use different fatty acids as needed.

The global Omega-3 market is highly concentrated with fish oil. The harvesting of small fish creates a ripple effect on the marine ecosystem dynamics, leading to less healthy oceans. That’s why Omega 3 seal oil is the better alternative. It’s sustainably sourced from an abundant population of over 7.6 million seals and no chemical processing is required to increase the level of Omega 3. In other words, seal oil is very important because it helps bring balance to the ecosystem.

About Carino

The pristine ocean waters bordering Canada’s northeast coast are some of the cleanest and coldest in the world. This is where Carino harvests seals from abundant wild herds. The Omega 3 oil, meat, and textiles are responsibly and ethically harvested by proud local people, with a generational knowledge of sealing. Our promise to our clients and customers is to uphold the highest possible standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.

All of our products are produced in a rural community, employing local people in Newfoundland and Labrador. Materials are purchased directly from professional local harvesters whose knowledge and experience have been passed down through generations. When you buy Carino products, you are sourcing from and supporting small coastal communities and an ethical and sustainable industry.

Carino is fully licensed by Canadian provincial and federal authorities to achieve the best standards of production. Seal oil supplements are tested for purity, safety, and levels of DHA, DPA, and EPA. Carino Omega 3 oil meets or exceeds Health Canada and World Health Organization’s standards for heavy metals, PCBs, and other environmental toxins.

Carino is committed to the environment and stewardship of our marine ecosystem. We recognize that the world’s largest source of protein comes from the ocean, and this demand will continue to grow – so the ocean and its resources must be responsibly managed.

Socially Responsible Harvest

At Carino, we are fully committed to ethical, humane, sustainable harvesting. This also means using every part of the animal — the hide, meat, and oil rich in omega 3 fatty acids. To reduce our carbon footprint even further, we even recycle the oil that doesn’t meet our exacting standards.

The seal harvest is not only viable and sustainable, but also a necessary fisheries eco-management tool. While some people may be concerned that the seal population is at risk, this is not the case at all! The seal population is abundant. When it remains unchecked, it can have a devastating impact on fish stocks — as well as the health of the seals themselves. Seal quotas are set based on sound science to ensure sustainability.

Carino has been a driving force behind efforts to improve animal welfare standards, and has been involved in the rewriting the Marine Mammal Regulations. Carino is proud to have created training materials for the Humane Harvesting and Quality Handling course — a mandatory training program for all commercial harvesters. Our harvesters are trained & licensed and are sanctioned by the Government of Canada under the Fisheries Act. They are committed to the best practices for sustainability, food safety, and animal welfare.
